Christopher Kyser Miree

Born on December 2, 1986, Christopher Kyser Miree lived a life full of exploration, joy and giving. Raised in Birmingham, AL, Kyser had a passion for hunting, fishing, skiing and, music. He loved his parents deeply and considered his younger brother to be his best friend.

Kyser attended The Altamont School in Birmingham, graduating in 2005, where he served as a model leader while excelling at athletics and in the classroom. Kyser went on to Vanderbilt University and in his time there served as President of the Tennessee Nu chapter of Sigma Alpha Epsilon, President of the Mechanical Engineering Honor Society, and Vice President of the Vanderbilt Aerospace Club. He graduated magna cum laude from Vanderbilt with a degree in Mechanical Engineering and went on to work for the Chevron Corporation in Mobile, AL.

Kyserโ€™s incredible life came to a senseless end on April 17, 2010, during an attempted robbery of Kyserโ€™s home by four teenage gang members in Mobile, AL. He is survived by family and friends who wake each day missing their loving son and brother, their caring friend, and their faithful fishing buddy.

Please keep Kyser and his family in your prayers.โ€‹Kyser was a founding member of the Rotaract Club of the Mobile Bay Area. His short tenure with the group left a lasting impression and he will continue to be remembered through fond memories and the annual Kyser Miree Memorial Fishing Tournament.โ€‹

Proceeds from the Kyser Miree Memorial Fishing Tournament benefit the Kyser Miree Scholarship Fund at the College of Engineering at Vanderbilt University as well Rotaractโ€™s many ongoing projects with child-welfare organizations such as Wilmer Hall Childrenโ€™s Home, St. Maryโ€™s Home, Collins-Rhodes Elementary School, and Prichard Preparatory School.
